⚡ TL;DR (The Short Version)
Kinnan Scaping drove a fully loaded CAT skid loader repeatedly across our brand new, never-driven-on driveway and damaged it beyond repair. They refused to take responsibility. Then they sued us for the remaining $6,443. We ended up with a ruined driveway while Kinnan got paid in full.
How It All Went Wrong
Our experience hiring a landscaper in the Omaha, Gretna, and Papillion area.
We Met With Kyle
We met with Kyle from Kinnan Scaping about a backyard retaining wall for the yard of our new home in Papillion. He provided renderings and an estimate for the requested work, which we accepted. The finished wall looked nothing like what they'd shown us.
We Paid the Deposit
We sent a check for $4,230 — 50% deposit toward an initial bid of $8,460. After that, we upped the size of the wall, bringing the total to $10,673.40.
$4,230 Paid UpfrontDriveway Was Poured
Our house was still under construction. The new driveway was poured — brand new, never driven on. Our builder strictly prohibited any subcontractors from driving or parking on it.
Kinnan Began Work
Kinnan Scaping started work on the retaining wall. Our builder had explicitly told them not to drive on the new driveway — yet they drove a fully loaded CAT skid loader back and forth across it anyway. The driveway had never been touched by a single vehicle before that day.
Driveway Destroyed
The CAT skid loader had done more damage in a single afternoon than years of normal use would have. The driveway was beyond repair. Kinnan Scaping refused to take responsibility and wouldn't make it right.
They Sued Us — And Won
In the end, Kinnan Scaping sued us for the balance — $6,443.40. I represented myself against their lawyer and lost. We had to pay every dollar. Kinnan was made whole while we were left with a destroyed driveway and no recourse.
Sued & Forced to Pay $6,443The Damage in Pictures
The damage in pictures — serving as a warning for homeowners in Omaha, Elkhorn, Gretna, and beyond.
The rendering we were shown — the finished wall looked nothing like this. What they delivered didn't match the design they sold us on.
Our brand new driveway — never driven on, until Kinnan showed up. This is what it looked like after they were done with it.
The machine that did it — a fully loaded CAT skid loader on our brand new driveway. The other side of the home had no construction and nothing blocking their path, yet they chose to drive on the fresh concrete anyway.
Two years later — we've had the largest cracks professionally sealed and are limping the driveway along until we can replace it. It's the only driveway on our block like this.
Our Verdict
We cannot recommend Kinnan Scaping. They damaged our new driveway, refused to make it right, and then sued us for the remaining balance. We had to pay in full while living with a ruined driveway.
